On the kitchen counter
Flowers on my kitchen counter make me smile.
Growing up, they were reserved for special occasions—a recital, a wedding, a prom. At some point, I started bringing them home just because. What began as occasional became a weekly ritual.
They don’t need to be expensive. Grocery store flowers are enough. Cut stems from the garden, even better.
It’s a small shift, but it changes the feeling of a space. The act itself—trimming stems, arranging, moving them until it feels right—is quiet and grounding.
